Please remember me and all the information you have received from this website when deciding to purchase mermaids and fish!

Tilso was part of L.Batlin and Son, a New York City-based company that was formed sometime prior to 1913. L.Batlin and Son began as dealers of antiques, and following the depression formed the import company Tilso. they imported various ceramic items from Japan.  Tilso was in business until 1976. The name Tilso was derived from the names of the owners wife and daughter, Tillie and Sonia.  Tilso had two wonderful wall plaque sets.  You often see them sold individually as they have gotten broken up over the years.  The tilso mermaids were made to either hang on the wall of sit on a counter.  Ini the above picture you can see how the smaller mermaids are a little flat on the bottoms.  Either way, they look wonderful.  They made a set playing instruments and a set with bubbles.  The set with instruments I've only seen in green.  The ones with bubbles I've seen in Green, Pink, and Blue.
